District 9 lands at the top of the box office race.

district-9-posterPeter Jackson presents “District 9,” acheieved the number one spot in the box office this weekend. The Neill Blomkamp directed film eraned $37 million, according to early estimates.

 “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”  finished in second place, followed by  “The Time Traveler’s Wife” starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, Meryl Streep’s “Julie & Julia” and the suprise hit kids movie, “G-Force”.
