NBC Universal partners with the multi-talented Oscar and Emmy-winning producing team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (“Smash,” “Chicago”) to ring in the holidays with an unprecedented world premiere television event.

The musical will be performed on a Long Island  sound stage.

“The Sound of Music Live!” — a live telecast based on the stage version of the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, starring Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood as Maria and acclaimed British actor Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”) as Capt. von Trapp.

Also appearing in the special are Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle.
