Drake Hogestyn, who played iconic hero John Black on the Emmy-winning drama “Days of our Lives, has sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer on Saturday, September 28, one day shy from his 71st birthday. Hogestyn’s character was as beloved as his soap alter ego, having played the character for 38 years. Hogestyn’s John and Deidre’s Hall’s Marlena are one of the show’s most popular couples on the Peacock show.

His family released a statement announcing the news of his death.

Executive Producer Ken Corday added, “This is a very difficult one for all of us. Hogey was the ultimate team player and there are not sufficient words to express how deeply he will be missed. His impact on our show, personally and professionally, was profound and will forever remain unmatched.”
Drake is survived by his wife Victoria, their four children Rachael, Ben, Whitney, Alexandra and partners, and seven grandchildren.
