“American Idol” started its Hollywood Week on Monday, March 31 on ABC. The groundbreaking series also launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Fantasia, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Gabby Barrett, and Scotty McCreery, among many others.
Here are some highlights from the episode of the show where contestants performed a song in front of the judges in the Idol Arena. The three platinum ticket winners performed a song together. The three winners Canaan James Hill, Filo and Kolbi Johnson automatically advance to the next round.
At the end of the episode the 144 hopefuls were down to 62 that will compete in the next round called the Showstopper Round mentored by artist Jelly Roll.
“American Idol” airs on Sundays and Mondays on ABC.
