‘American Idol’: Top 12 Chosen in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Episode

AMERICAN IDOL - “813 (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame)” - With guidance from guest mentor James Taylor, the Top 14 take on iconic songs from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame legends as America votes live for the Top 12. American Idol” began their first ever live coast-to-coast voting show as the contestants sang songs from music legends during Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Theme week episode. Host Ryan Seacrest revealed the inductees live during the show along with judges Luke Bryan, Hall of Famer himself, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood who opened the show with her rendition of “Alone” by inductee rockers Heart. She then paid tribute to her favorite rock band; Guns N Roses dressed the band’s lead singer Axl Rose.

Inducted into the Rock Hall were artists Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Salt-N-Pepa, Warren Zevon, Carol Kaye, Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Lenny Waronker.

At the end of the night, Amanda and Desmond were eliminated so the Top 12 moving on were Canaan James Hill, Gabby Samone, Mattie Pruitt, Thunderstorm Artis, Slater Nalley, Breanna Nix, John Foster, Filo, Kolbi Jordan, Josh King, Jamal Roberts, and Che.

The competition continues on Monday, April 28 when The Top 10 will be revealed in another live coast-to-coast vote. Voters should check their local listings to see when the show will air in their area. Season Three Idol winner Fantasia will mentor the contestants as they pay tribute to former Idols by recreating memorable Idol moments.
