‘Lilo and Stitch’: Behind The Music of The Disney Movie

Last Updated: May 21, 2025By Tags: , , , ,

“Whether its traditional Hawaiian music or Elvis Presley’s, music is part of the DNA of “Lilo and Stitch,” said the movie’s director Dean Fleischer Camp. Composer Dan Romer used Tahitian drumming for the score and it was important to them that the music reflects the culture of the Island.

The soundtrack will feature almost all of the songs from the original movie, including the original Elvis Presley songs “(You’re the) Devil in Disguise” and a new cover of “Burning Love” performed by Nyjah Music and Zyah Rhythm. “American Idol” winner Iam Tongi recorded a new version of “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” with Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu and The Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus.

The movie stars Maia Kealoha, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis.

For the “Burning Love” cover, brothers, Nyjah and Zyah turned to their uncle, Bruno Mars to produce. Check out a featurette for the movie’s music below.
