‘America’s Got Talent’: Meet Howie Mandel’s First Golden Buzzer of Season 20
The premiere of “America’s Got Talent” showcased many great acts. As always the acts were entertaining but some were not worthy of a regular act in Las Vegas. For Season 20, judges Simon Cowell, Mel B., Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara were looking for acts to touch them enough to use their Golden Buzzer per judge.
This season, the four judges will each receive two Golden Buzzers as opposed to the traditional one per season — which gives them the chance to send an act all the way through the competition to the live semi-final rounds. Host Terry Crews will also receive a chance to name a Golden Buzzer.
In the premiere episode, Howie and the audience fell in love with 23-year-old talented singer Jourdan Blue. As Jourdan walked up to audition, his story filled the air in a voice over. In his high school year’s he got into trouble and got kicked out of school and was on his own at 16. His grandpa saved him and he has been with him ever since. Blue explained that his mom is a cop and his father is a lawyer so naturally that made me a rebel.

Terry helped the grandpa watch the audition on facetime while Jourdan performed. He is a street performer from New Orleans. The place where he busks is right were the attack on New Orleans was right before last year’s Super Bowl.
Jourdan sang “Break Even” by The Script. Before he sang Simon says “Two minutes can literally change your life.” After the performance, Sofia said “‘I’m in love with you. The hair, the voice..” She called him a rockstar.
Mel B. said she felt like she was hearing the song for the first time which is hard to do with a popular song. His tone and the way he delivered the song was not only pitch perfect but everything perfect.
Simon thought he was somebody who lost their way and has now found his way through music.
He made Simon feel amazing but Howie was the most impressed. Howie was very impressed. “This is Season 20.. I’ve seen dreams come true on that stage where you are standing…lives change right where he was standing before hitting his Golden Buzzer.
