Ringo Starr Celebrates 85th Birthday with Peace and Love Event
The Beatles legend Ringo Starr turned 85 on July 7, 2025 and celebrated the milestone birthday with his annual “Peace and Love” Day in Beverly Hills. Starr and his family and friends, including Joe Walsh, Fred Armisen, Greg Bissonnette, Diane Warren and more, join with celebrate the worldwide dedication of “Peace and Love” at 12 noon wherever his fans were in the world. The event was livestreamed on Starr’s Instagram page.
Just before the dedication, Starr announced that his Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney liked the performances, holding up his phone to let everyone know that he was on a call with his friend, as the host band, led by T Bone Burnett, Jackson Browne, and Joe Walsh sang. During his speech, the Grammy winner, and Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductee never thought he’d be in Hollywood.
A Beverly Hills resident since 2014, with his wife actress Barbara Bach, Starr reflected on his time growing up in Liverpool to where he is today. “I couldn’t dream of ending up here. … I love it here [in California],” he said. “I love the people. I love the attitude. The peace and love that’s shown in this state is incredible.” Starr even reflected on his growing family as they took the stage for the 12 Noon ceremony and cake cutting. “I’m an only child! Now I have 19 [family members] with me — kids and grandkids, and great grandkids.!”
After the 12 noon “Peace and Love” dedication, Beverly Hills Mayor Sharonna Nazarian announced that it was Ringo Starr Day in the city. Dubbed the “greatest drummer in the world” by McCartney, Starr is not slowing down anytime soon as he plans to do more music, wants to do another country album.
