TVMusic Network Remembers ‘General Hospital’ Actor Tony Geary
TVMusic Network remembers Tony Geary, who played Luke Spencer on “General Hospital.” The eight-time Daytime Emmy Award winner has died at the age of 78. Geary was part of the soap opera’s supercouple Luke and Laura (Genie Francis) whose television wedding in 1981 was the most watched event at the time, reaching more than 30 million viewers. The event was so popular that it drew famous fans, including Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor who originated the role of the show’s arch villain Helena Cassadine, who vowed to not only stop the wedding but to put a curse on the happy couple.
Francis, who plays Laura on the ABC Drama, remembered Geary in a social media post.
He spoiled me for leading men for the rest of my life. I am crushed, I will miss him terribly, but I was so lucky to be his partner. Somehow, somewhere, we are connected to each other because I felt him leave last night. Good night sweet prince, good night.

“He spoiled me for leading men for the rest of my life,” Francis wrote. “I am crushed, I will miss him terribly, but I was so lucky to be his partner. Somehow, somewhere, we are connected to each other because I felt him leave last night. Good night sweet prince, good night.”
Geary won eight Emmys for the role, as the street hustler and monster who quickly became the show’s anti-hero and leading man. He left the role in 2015 and the character of Luke Spencer was killed off onscreen in 2022.
