It was a special nostalgia filled night at the PaleyFest LA celebration of “Charlie’s Angels” 50th Anniversary Panel. The series stars Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd appeared on stage for a panel to highlight the iconic series, sharing behind the scenes stories and also looked back at each woman’s storied career.

At the panel moderated by ABC7’s George Pennacchio, the ladies talked about the impact the series that the series had. They also shared stories about their original cast member, the late Farrah Fawcett-Majors. The series ran from 1976 to 1981.
The series premiered in with Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, and Farrah Fawcett-Majors as the leads at the all-female detective agency. Cheryl Ladd came on during season 2. The lineup would change over the years with Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts with David Doyle as Bosley and John Forsythe as the voice of the unseen Charlie.
On her first impression of the series, Smith said she was initially shocked, “but I knew that the show was different, special, and unique. I thought ‘Wow – three women chasing danger instead of being rescued from it. I’m in.’”
Jackson and Smith noted that Ladd “had big shoes to fill, but stepped in and didn’t miss a beat.” Ladd also recalled helping ease the tension of replacing Fawcett-Majors by wearing a T-shirt on set that said “Farrah Fawcett-Minor” on it. She won over the crew right away.

The trio will next be honored at the Paley Honors Spring Gala in New York City on May 14 for their pioneering contributions to the media landscape and their enduring impact on television.
