RZA’s highly anticipated movie, “One Spoon of Chocolate,” follows an ex-military convict seeking a fresh start in a small town, but finds himself in a whirlpool of danger in this tense and stylish action thriller from the visionary founder of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Some of the highly anticipated movies to screen include:
“Beyond Tarkwa Bay”: (Documentary) In the vibrant coastal community of Tarkwa Bay, Nigeria, teenage surfer Abraham finds his dreams at odds with reality. Mentored by local legend Godpower, Abraham overcomes his fear of the ocean to embrace a newfound passion for surfing. But when navy bulldozers suddenly destroy their island homes, his dreams are left hanging in the balance. Refusing to be defeated, Abraham returns with his father’s support to pursue a competition that could take him beyond the only home he’s ever known.
“Blue”: a layered romantic dramedy about possibly finding love, maybe losing love, and definitely finding yourself, in an era ruled by devices and emojis. When a heart-on-her-sleeve woman (Imani Cheadle) has a surprise reunion with an old friend, the ensuing roller-coaster culminates in a chance encounter with love of her life.
“Can You Stand The Rain”: When beloved children’s author Shawn Xavier Brown unexpectedly passes away, his tight-knit group of childhood friends reunite for his funeral weekend. As old wounds, unresolved dreams, and hidden tensions rise to the surface, they are forced to confront the lives they’ve built, the loves they’ve lost, and the hopes they’ve long buried. “Can You Stand The Rain” is a powerful exploration of friendship, grief, identity, and the eternal struggle between who we are and who we once dreamed we could be.
“Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love”: Ava Denis, a celebrated chef turned executive, travels to Portugal to headline a prestigious gastro gala with her handsome, dependable boyfriend, Ellis. But her carefully ordered world is shaken when she unexpectedly reunites with Luke, the younger chef she once loved and his beautiful new partner. As passion simmers in the kitchen, Ava’s happy place, she must confront whether the life she chose is enough, or if the love she left behind still has the power to change everything.
“I’m Carl Lewis!” (Documentary): I’M CARL LEWIS! unpacks the extraordinary and often misunderstood life of nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis—one of track and field’s most dominant yet polarizing figures. Celebrated as “The Greatest” and athletics’ first global commercial star, his relentless ambition, bold self-expression, and refusal to be pigeonholed shaped not only his legacy but the sport itself. Directed by Chris Hay and two-time Academy Award-nominated producer Julie Anderson, I’M CARL LEWIS! weaves candid modern-day interviews with Lewis, Nike founder Phil Knight, longtime coach Tom Tellez, late-career rival Mike Powell, Grammy and Emmy-winning music producer Narada Michael Walden, and more, alongside stunning archival footage, to offer an unfiltered look at an icon who broke records, defied norms, and changed the game on his own terms. A Noah Media Group production in association with Uninterrupted and Nike, the film delves into the consequences of his uncompromising drive—on and off the track.
