TVMusic Network caught up with Jones, now 83 as she attended the NAACP Image Awards Luncheon where the documentary is nominated for Outstanding Documentary.

What is “Who in the Hell is Regina Jones?” About

The documentary “Who in the Hell Is Regina Jones?” is a biographical film that chronicles the life and journey of Regina Jones, the activist, reporter, and publisher who founded Soul, the groundbreaking newspaper that covered Black artists and musicians. The film includes original and archival footage from Jones’ storied life, from her marriage and pregnancy as a teenager, to her time working as an LAPD dispatcher during the 1965 Watts Rebellion, to her distinguished career as a journalist.

Jones, now 83, guides the story in interviews where she reflects on her experiences firsthand. The documentary is directed by Billy Miossi and Soraya Sélène, and it has been produced by Weigel Broadcasting Co., edited by Nancy Novack, co-edited by Alisa Selman, and executive produced by Academy Award nominee Sam Pollard. The film won the Outstanding Documentary Feature Award at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival and was nominated for Best Biographical Documentary Feature at the Spotlight Documentary Awards.
