Lifetime is teaming up with superstar actresses Queen Latifah and Taraji P. Henson for new movies as part of the network’s programming slate of projects that provide great storytelling with emotional love stories.

Queen Latifah Teams with Lifetime

Queen Latifah has signed on to executive produce three new Lifetime original movies through her production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment, alongside her longtime producing partner Shakim Compere. The projects will continue Flavor Unit’s tradition of championing culturally resonant, female-driven storytelling. Queen Latifah’s history with Lifetime includes starring roles in the critically acclaimed original movies Steel Magnolias and Flint, both of which earned widespread praise and awards recognition. She also executive produced the ratings and critical hit The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel, one of the network’s most-watched original movies, and served as executive producer on the competition series The Rap Game.

Queen Latifah is an Academy Award(R)-nominated actress, Grammy Award(R)-winning recording artist, Golden Globe(R) winner and Emmy(R) nominee whose career spans music, film, television and producing. She received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Chicago and won a Golden Globe for Life Support, which also earned her an Emmy nomination. Her extensive screen credits include Girls Trip, Hairspray, Set It Off, Bringing Down the House, and most recently, CBS’ The Equalizer which ran for five seasons. Through her production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment, co-founded with Shakim Compere, she has produced a wide range of acclaimed scripted and unscripted projects across film and television.

Taraji P. Henson Announces Partnership with Lifetime

Taraji P. Henson will executive produce two new original films for Lifetime through her production company, TPH Entertainment, in partnership with FOX Entertainment Studios. Production will be overseen by her head of production and development, Jamila Jordan-Theus. In October 2025, Henson inked a first-look deal with FOX Entertainment Studios for her TPH Entertainment. Henson previously starred in Lifetime’s Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story, earning a Primetime Emmy(R) Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie. She also executive produced the network’s holiday original Two Can Play That Game through her TPH banner.

Taraji P. Henson is an Academy Award(R) nominated and Golden Globe(R)-winning actress, producer and entrepreneur known for her dynamic performances across film and television. She has also been nominated for an EMMY(R), Screen Actors Guild(R) and Tony(R) Award as both an actor and producer. She received her Academy Award(R) nomination for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and won a Golden Globe for her iconic role as Cookie Lyon on the global hit series Empire, which also earned her multiple Emmy(R) nominations. Upcoming film credits include Tis’ So Sweet and Why Did I Get Married Again? Past film credits include Tyler Perry’s Straw, The Color Purple, Hidden Figures, Hustle & Flow, among others. In addition to Empire, her work on television includes Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, Abbot Elementary, and The Accomplice, which she is set to star and executive produce under her TPH Entertainment banner.
